iMac 20" e Print Server Netgear WGPS606

Un saluto a tutti da un neo Mac user,

possiedo il Print Server Wireless Netgear WGPS606 collegato a una stampante HP PSC1355 e con il mio vecchio pc la stampa va OK (naturalmente ho un router wireless). Ora con il mio nuovo iMac intel OSX 10.4.x e seguendo tutte le istruzioni che ho scaricato dal supporto Netgear, non va.

Questa è la procedura:

Open the System Preferences

Menu bar à System Preferences

Click on “Print and Fax†icon

Click on the “+†icon to add a new printer

Click on the “IP Printer†icon

Select “Line Printer Daemon – LPDâ€

1. In the Address field, enter the IP address of the WGPS606 (il mio è 192.168.0.10)

2. In the Queue field, enter L1

3. In the Name field, enter L1

4. Select the printer manufacturer from the pull down (HP)

5. Select the printer model from the scroll box (il mio modello psc1355 non compare! Come si aggiunge un'altra stampante in questo box?)

6. Click Add

Poi continua con:

1. Click once on L1 to select it

2. Click on Printer Setup

Click on the “Installable Options†pulldown menu and select “Name & Locationâ€

The following screen will display:

1. Change Printer Name to IP address of WGPS606 (192.168.0.10)

2. Change Location to:

IP_<ip of WGPS606>P1

(IP_192.168.0.10P1)

3. Click on Apply Changes

The Macintosh is now ready to print.

Sembra tutto semplice, ma non funziona. Infatti non potendo mettere il giusto modello mi ha messo di default Generic Postscript.

Da notare che i Driver che ho scaricato dal sito HP funzionano perfettamente se collego la stampante diretta con la USB.

Possibile che nessuno ha mai avuto il mio stesso problema. Ho anche chiamato l'Apple al servizio "gratuito" (1 ora al tel. al numero 199) e non mi ha risolto nulla. Ho cercato su i vecchi post, ma nessuno spiega come aggiungere una nuova stampante alla scelta del browse senza che sia installata fisicamente la stampante.
